We Care More About Your Privacy Than You Do

By default, you're anonymous. We don't ask for your name, email, or any personal information. You're assigned a random account ID. We literally don't know who you are — and we like it that way.

You can even pay anonymously. Upgrade to premium without revealing your identity. We only process payment info through secure payment providers, never storing it ourselves.

Email is 100% optional. The only times we'd have your email: (1) You choose to join our marketing list, or (2) You add it as an account recovery option. That's it. No tricks, no requirements.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Spark Answers - Your private answers to daily questions, stored securely and only visible to you and your partner
  • Recovery Phrase - An optional recovery phrase (hashed and encrypted) to help you regain access to your account
  • Email Address (OPTIONAL) - Only if YOU choose to: (1) Join our marketing list, or (2) Add it for account recovery - Never required to use Sparks
  • Payment Information - When upgrading to premium, processed by secure payment providers (we never see or store your card details) - You remain anonymous even as a paying customer

Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous User ID - A randomly generated identifier (like "user_2a3b4c5d") - this is your entire identity to us
  • Timezone - Your timezone to deliver sparks at the right time (8pm local time)
  • Usage Analytics - Basic app usage patterns to improve the service (fully anonymized, no tracking pixels or fingerprinting)
  • Device Information - General device type for app compatibility only

2. Our Anonymous-by-Default System

How It Works

  • When you first visit Sparks, you're automatically assigned a random ID
  • No registration, no email, no personal info required
  • Your partner connects using a simple code - still no personal info exchanged
  • Even premium users remain anonymous - we only process payments, not identities

3. How We Use Your Information

Core Service

  • Delivering your daily spark questions
  • Storing and synchronizing your answers with your partner
  • Tracking your connection streaks and achievements
  • Providing premium features (mood selection, favorites, history)

Account Management

  • Account recovery when you provide an email address
  • Processing premium subscriptions and payments
  • Sending important service notifications

Service Improvement

  • Analyzing usage patterns to improve the app (anonymized data only)
  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • Developing new features

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

  • Your Partner - Spark answers are shared between connected partners only
  • Payment Processing - Secure payment providers process premium payments (they also don't get your personal info from us)
  • Legal Requirements - We may disclose information if required by law (but we have very little to disclose)
  • Service Providers - Minimal third-party services, all privacy-focused and under strict agreements

Anonymous Data

We may share aggregated, anonymous usage statistics (e.g., "X couples completed sparks this month") that cannot identify individual users.

  • Delete Your Data - Contact us to permanently delete your account and all associated data
  • Correct Information - Update your email address or other account information (if you've provided any)

Email Communications

  • We only send emails for account recovery and important service updates

  • Waitlist emails can be unsubscribed from directly

  • Active Accounts - We retain your data while your account is active
  • Inactive Accounts - Accounts inactive for 2+ years may be deleted
  • Deleted Accounts - All data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
